Sondra Matesky - Teke Photography

Renowned fashion photographer Teke studied at the Art Center College of Design as well as with Ansel Adams, whom she credits with helping her develop the technical excellence and tonal control for which she is known.  Teke has often expressed that music and photography share the same disciplines – hard work, creative talent and the understanding that art “without emotion” is meaningless.
Her outstanding photo-artistry has earned her an array of awards and honors as well as an impressive client list with national ads appearing in “Vogue”, “Harper’s Bazaar”, “LA Magazine”, and “TV Guide”.  Her clientele included:  “Max Factor (Internationally)”, “Merle Norman”, “ JC Penny”, “TEEN Magazine”, “Palm Springs Life Magazine”, “St. John Knits”, “Cole of California”, “Hang Ten”, “I. Magnin”, “American Express”, “California Federal Bank”, “Sheraton Hotels”, “Royal Caribbean Cruise Line”, “Bullocks”, “Dupont”, “Monterey Bay Aquarium”, and many others.  Celebrity clients included:  Joan Collins, Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Tiegs, Linda Evans, Jane Seymour, Tommy Lasorda, Steve Garvey, Rene Russo, Miss Teenage American and Jay Leno.
In addition, an Emmy Award-nominated news documentary for KABC-TV-Los Angeles featured Teke working as a fashion photographer in her studio in Los Angeles.  She has been featured in “Camera Life” magazine as well as “Peterson’s Photographic” magazine as one of photography’s leading ladies.
Teke’s photography won first place in the 22nd Annual Lulu Awards, sponsored by the Men’s Fashion Association and the World Conference of Menswear.  Marketing Bestsellers Magazine rated her cover shot for “TEEN Magazine” a “best cover”.  Her work has also received numerous Best National Ad awards.  Teke was nominated to “Who’s Who of American Women” as well as featured in “Who’s Who among “Leading Contemporary American Photographers”.  She was also selected as one of the photographers whose work was shown in an award ceremony at the “Kennedy Center” In Washington D.C. in 2001.
